When the new Pilot was built to replace the old building, on this site in 1959. The sea was lapping at the end of the car park. This series of photos taken over 73 years, shows just how much the shoreline has grown. Since 1940, the high-water mark has extended by some 165 metres (about 180 yards in old money).
